The United States has signaled a toughened stance against entities and individuals violating sanctions imposed on Iranian oil exports.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche issued a formal statement regarding the enforcement of these measures. He emphasized that the US Department of Justice will take decisive legal action against all parties involved in the purchase or sale of sanctioned Iranian petroleum products.
In a statement shared on the "X" social media platform, Blanche noted: "The Department of Justice will resolutely prosecute anyone who buys or sells sanctioned Iranian oil." This announcement follows previous reports indicating that the US military may implement strategic measures regarding Iranian ports, while maintaining that vessels not entering or exiting those ports will not be prevented from navigating the Strait of Hormuz.
The enforcement of oil sanctions remains a cornerstone of US foreign policy under US President Donald Trump, aimed at limiting the financial resources available to the Iranian administration. The Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime chokepoint through which approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes, remains a focal point of regional security and global energy markets. These legal warnings underscore the administration's commitment to maintaining the integrity of international trade restrictions and ensuring regional stability in the Middle East.
