The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has accused Iran of a "flagrant violation" of the ceasefire following a series of overnight attacks involving ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Sky News, CENTCOM reported that Iran launched a ballistic missile toward Kuwait, which was successfully intercepted by Kuwaiti forces.
"The flagrant violation of the ceasefire occurred just hours after Iranian forces launched five kamikaze strike UAVs in and near the Strait of Hormuz, posing a clear threat," the US command stated. CENTCOM confirmed that all UAVs were successfully intercepted by US forces.
Furthermore, the command stated that US military personnel prevented the launch of an additional UAV from an Iranian ground control station in Bandar Abbas. CENTCOM emphasized that it continues to operate with vigilance to protect its forces and interests against what it described as "unprovoked Iranian aggression."
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global maritime chokepoint, through which a significant portion of the world's oil supply passes. Tensions in the region have historically fluctuated, with international actors frequently calling for de-escalation to ensure the security of global energy markets and regional stability.
