The United States and Armenia have signed a Strategic Cooperation Charter along with two additional agreements aimed at deepening bilateral ties. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Armenian media reports, the agreements include a framework for strategic partnership under the TRIPP project, as well as a framework plan to secure the supply of minerals and rare earth elements between the two nations.
The documents were signed in Yerevan by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. Secretary of State Rubio is currently on an official visit to Armenia to discuss the expansion of diplomatic and economic cooperation.
The signing of these agreements marks a significant development in US-Armenia relations, reflecting Washington's increasing interest in the South Caucasus region. The TRIPP project and the focus on critical mineral supply chains are part of broader US efforts to diversify global resource dependencies and strengthen partnerships with countries in the region, aligning with US foreign policy objectives under the administration of US President Donald Trump.
