Ramiz Mehdiyev, the former head of the Presidential Administration, who is accused of committing particularly grave crimes against the state, will remain under house arrest.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Qafqazinfo, the State Security Service (SSS) filed a new motion with the court regarding Mehdiyev.

The investigator requested an extension of the current preventive measure, citing that the preliminary investigation into the extensive criminal case has not yet concluded and additional evidence is still being gathered.

The Sabail District Court granted the motion, extending Ramiz Mehdiyev's house arrest for an additional five months.

It should be noted that Ramiz Mehdiyev, who was once a prominent figure in the country's political landscape, was brought to criminal responsibility eight months ago. He faces serious charges, including high treason, actions aimed at the violent seizure of power, and the legalization of property obtained through criminal means. The legal proceedings are part of a broader effort by Azerbaijani law enforcement to address allegations of misconduct involving high-ranking former officials.
