Catalan police have detained Jonathan Andic, the son of Mango fashion chain founder Isak Andic, as a suspect in connection with his father’s death.
According to reports from Spanish media outlets, including "La Vanguardia" and "El Pais," cited by the Operative Information Center-OMM, Jonathan Andic was apprehended by plainclothes officers near his residence in Barcelona and taken to a police station for questioning. Legal counsel has been engaged as the investigation remains under judicial seal.
A family representative confirmed that Jonathan Andic is cooperating with the authorities regarding the events of December 14, 2024. On that date, Isak Andic lost his life after falling more than 100 meters during a hike in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona. While the incident was initially ruled an accident and the investigation was closed in January 2025, the case was reopened in October 2025 and reclassified as a homicide investigation. Authorities cited significant inconsistencies in Jonathan Andic's initial testimony as the primary reason for the renewed probe.
The investigation comes amid reports of long-standing tensions between the father and son regarding the management and succession of the Mango fashion empire. Mango, established in 1984 in Barcelona, has grown into one of the world's leading fashion retailers with a presence in over 110 countries. The legal proceedings are expected to have significant implications for the company's leadership and the distribution of the late billionaire's estate. The defense maintains that Jonathan Andic played no role in his father's tragic death.
