Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed readiness to deepen strategic dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing the strengthening of bilateral ties between Beijing and Moscow.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Chinese leader referred to Putin as an "old and dear friend" during a video conference broadcast on the Rossiya-24 television channel. Xi Jinping signaled his commitment to advancing the partnership between the two nations, noting that Beijing is prepared to move forward with a comprehensive dialogue.

"I am pleased to have a deep conversation with you to develop a new ambitious plan for the development of bilateral relations," Xi stated during the call. He highlighted the symbolic significance of the meeting, noting that it coincided with Li Chun, the start of spring in the Chinese calendar, which represents hope and new beginnings. The Chinese leader also mentioned the recent visit of Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu to China, where he coordinated positions with Foreign Minister Wang Yi on key international and regional matters.

The strengthening of the Moscow-Beijing axis comes at a time of significant shifts in global diplomacy. Both nations have increasingly sought to align their foreign policies to provide a counterbalance to Western influence, particularly concerning trade and security. This strategic coordination is being closely watched by the international community, including the administration of US President Donald Trump. For Azerbaijan, the evolving relationship between these two major powers remains a focal point of regional foreign policy, given the country's strategic position in Eurasian energy and transport networks.
