A parliamentary delegation led by the Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly), Sahiba Gafarova, has arrived in Russia for a working visit to participate in the Council meeting and the 60th plenary session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS PA).
The Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis informed Operative Information Center-OMM that Speaker Sahiba Gafarova was welcomed at Saint Petersburg's Pulkovo-3 airport by Nizami Mamishev, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg and Head of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Department, along with Dmitry Kobitsky, Secretary General of the CIS PA Council.
The welcoming party also included Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Russia, Rahman Mustafayev, the authorized representative of the Milli Majlis at the CIS PA, Aydin Jafarov, Acting Consul General of Azerbaijan in Saint Petersburg, Anar Yusifzade, and other official figures.
The CIS Interparliamentary Assembly serves as a significant platform for legislative cooperation among member states, focusing on the harmonization of laws and the strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties within the region. This 60th plenary session is expected to address various regional issues, humanitarian cooperation, and the development of model legislative acts to bolster integration among the participating nations.
