Sabuhi Mammadov, an Azerbaijani citizen wanted internationally by the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Azerbaijan, was extradited from Serbia to Azerbaijan on July 19. His location was identified in Serbia, leading to his subsequent arrest.

This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Justice.

According to official reports, Mammadov is accused of committing large-scale fraud in 2023. He allegedly abused the trust of a victim through deceit and false promises, causing financial damages amounting to 90,869,964 manat. He is charged under Article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Following a formal request from the Prosecutor General's Office and subsequent negotiations, Serbian authorities agreed to the extradition. This cooperation underscores the strengthening of international legal ties between Azerbaijan and Serbia.

Mammadov was escorted from Belgrade to Baku by officials from the Ministry of Justice’s Main Department for International Cooperation and the Penitentiary Service. Upon arrival, he was transferred to a pre-trial detention center in compliance with a court-issued arrest warrant.

Azerbaijan remains committed to pursuing individuals accused of serious financial crimes, utilizing international legal frameworks and bilateral agreements to ensure accountability.
