A freight train consisting of five wagons carrying Russian grain to Armenia departed from the Bilajari railway station of Azerbaijan Railways JCSC today, transiting through the territory of Azerbaijan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the total weight of the wheat shipment amounts to 349 tons. The cargo is scheduled to pass through the Boyuk Kasik railway station into Georgia, from where it will proceed to its final destination in Armenia.
This shipment is part of an ongoing transit arrangement facilitated by Baku. To date, a total of 23,500 tons of grain, over 1,000 tons of fertilizer, and 68 tons of buckwheat have been transported from Russia to Armenia via Azerbaijani territory. The previous transit of 350 tons of Russian wheat through Azerbaijan was recorded on March 25.
The utilization of Azerbaijan's railway infrastructure for regional transit highlights the country's growing role as a strategic logistics hub in the South Caucasus. By maintaining efficient transport corridors, Azerbaijan continues to support regional connectivity and the movement of essential commodities across international borders, in line with its commitment to developing the Middle Corridor and other trans-regional trade routes.
