A new freight train transporting Russian grain to Armenia via the territory of Azerbaijan departed today. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the train, which began its journey from the Bilajari Railway Station of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, consists of 7 wagons carrying a total of 488 tons of wheat.

Under the designated route, the cargo will pass through the Boyuk Kasik Railway Station into Georgia, from where it will continue its transit toward Armenia. This follows a previous shipment on March 11, when a freight train consisting of 11 wagons transported 1,023 tons of grain along the same route.

To date, more than 23,000 tons of grain and over 700 tons of fertilizer have been transported from Russia to Armenia via transit through Azerbaijan. This transit activity underscores Azerbaijan's role as a critical regional logistics hub, utilizing its modernized railway infrastructure to facilitate international trade corridors. The use of Azerbaijani territory for such transit highlights the growing importance of the Middle Corridor and regional connectivity initiatives aimed at stabilizing supply chains in the South Caucasus.
