A freight train carrying Russian grain has been dispatched to Armenia via the territory of Azerbaijan. The train, consisting of 7 wagons, departed from the Bilajari railway station today.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the total weight of the grain destined for Armenia is 488 tons. The cargo is scheduled to pass through the Boyuk Kasik station into Georgia, from where it will proceed to its final destination in Armenia.
This shipment follows a previous transit on February 4, when a freight train comprising 8 wagons delivered 560 tons of Russian grain through Azerbaijan. To date, more than 21,000 tons (302 wagons) of grain and 610 tons (9 wagons) of fertilizer have been transported from Russia to Armenia via Azerbaijani territory.
The utilization of Azerbaijan's transport infrastructure for such transit highlights the country's growing role as a regional logistics hub. By facilitating the movement of international cargo through the East-West and North-South transport corridors, Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its position in regional connectivity and trade logistics. The route via the Boyuk Kasik border crossing remains a vital link for transit operations heading toward Georgia and beyond.
