Rainy weather conditions continue across most regions of Azerbaijan, with precipitation becoming particularly intense and heavy in several areas, according to the official weather update.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this was stated in the data released by the National Hydrometeorological Service as of 9:00 AM on May 25. The highest amount of precipitation was recorded in Zardab at 71 mm, followed by Sheki (Kishchay) at 69 mm, Oguz at 40 mm, Qax (Sarybash) at 30 mm, Ismayilli and Zaqatala at 29 mm, Balaken at 24 mm, Goychay and Goygol at 18 mm, Shahbuz at 16 mm, Goranboy and Nakhchivan at 14 mm, Yevlax, Mingachevir, and Naftalan at 13 mm, Sadarak and Ganja at 12 mm, Aghdam and Terter at 11 mm, Kurdamir and Khaltan at 10 mm, Gobustan and Qabala at 9 mm, and Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and Shamakhi at 8 mm. Other regions, including Kalbajar, Lachin, Qubadli, Shusha, Khankendi, and Fuzuli, recorded up to 1 mm of rainfall. Additionally, hail with diameters of up to 25 mm fell in parts of Sheki and Yardimli, while northwest wind speeds reached up to 20 meters per second in Shahdag.
Such unstable weather conditions and heavy precipitation are characteristic of the transitional spring-to-summer period in Azerbaijan, particularly in its mountainous and foothill regions.
