Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has outlined proposals for a new regional security architecture, aimed at fostering stability across the Persian Gulf.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, these remarks were made during an interview with the Financial Times.

The Qatari Prime Minister stated that there are assurances regarding the continued operation of the Strait of Hormuz. He noted that during recent discussions in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, an agreement was reached to establish a direct communication channel between Washington and Tehran. This mechanism is expected to play a crucial role in preventing disinformation and enhancing operational coordination, particularly during mine-clearing operations.

It was further reported that QatarEnergy will maintain its emergency protocols until security conditions are fully stabilized in the region.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani emphasized the necessity of discussing any management model for the Strait of Hormuz extensively with Iran, Oman, and other Persian Gulf nations. He stated that the primary objective is to form a comprehensive security framework between Iran and other regional states.

Addressing the ongoing tensions between Lebanon and Israel, the Qatari official remarked that Israel has, in certain instances, exhibited disproportionate reactions. He noted that a new mechanism is currently in place to monitor the ceasefire and ensure coordination between the parties to maintain control over the situation in Lebanon.

The Persian Gulf region remains a critical geopolitical focal point due to its role as a major global energy hub. Efforts by Qatar to mediate and establish communication channels between regional powers and international actors like the United States reflect the country's ongoing commitment to diplomatic conflict resolution and maritime security.
