President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin has sent a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the letter states:
"Your Excellency,
On behalf of the Swiss Federal Council and the Swiss people, I extend my sincere congratulations to you and your people on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan. I also express my best wishes for a happy and successful future for your country and your people.
Azerbaijan and Switzerland enjoy strong bilateral relations. I am confident that, taking into account the positive changes in the South Caucasus, our relations will continue to develop constructively in the coming years.
Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration."
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland were established in 1992, shortly after Azerbaijan regained its independence. Since then, the two nations have maintained a cooperative partnership, particularly in the economic and energy sectors, with Switzerland playing an active role in regional dialogue and development initiatives within the South Caucasus.
