On July 30, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan participated in the inauguration of a new Golf Club at the "Issyk-Kul Golf Resort" complex in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
The President was joined at the ceremony by President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, and President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the event began with a promotional video showcasing the development of the "Issyk-Kul Golf Resort" and the new sporting facility.
The Golf Club is situated on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul within a 120-hectare multifunctional tourism complex, with the golf course itself occupying 103 hectares. The facility is designed to operate for 10 months of the year, aiming to boost tourism in the region beyond the traditional summer season. The infrastructure includes an 80-room hotel, with future plans to establish a golf academy and host international tournaments.
In addition to the golf course, the "Issyk-Kul Golf Resort" is slated to feature a variety of four- and five-star hotels, restaurants, and beach zones, integrating sports, leisure, and wellness tourism. Following opening remarks by the President of the Kyrgyzstan Golf Federation, Khomeni Ergeshov, and President Sadyr Japarov, the visiting heads of state toured the complex and participated in a symbolic ceremonial tee-off.
Regional cooperation in tourism and infrastructure development has become a significant focus for Central Asian and Caspian nations, as leaders seek to diversify their economies and enhance regional connectivity through joint investment projects like the Issyk-Kul development.
