Regarding the relations between the US and Azerbaijan, these ties are excellent, and I would even say they have been elevated to the level of a strategic partnership.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks at the opening of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum.
Touching upon his meetings with US President Donald Trump, the head of state said: “Our historic meeting with US President Donald Trump took place in Washington last August. Later, we met again in Davos this January. They also invited Azerbaijan as a founding member of the Peace Council, which US President Donald Trump founded. Subsequently, Vice President Vance visited Azerbaijan, and we signed a declaration on establishing a strategic partnership. Many other criteria demonstrate that our relations are currently at their peak. We have never achieved such relations before.”
The strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States has historically focused on energy security, counter-terrorism efforts, and regional stability in the South Caucasus. The signing of the declaration mentioned by President Ilham Aliyev marks a significant milestone in deepening these ties, reflecting a shared commitment to long-term cooperation across political, economic, and security sectors.
