The State Border Service of Azerbaijan has successfully prevented the smuggling of 78 kilograms and 250 grams of narcotics, along with 1,990 psychotropic pills, across the border from Iran.

According to the official statement, border search and operational measures resulted in the seizure of 6 kilograms and 380 grams of narcotics (comprising 5 kilograms and 530 grams of marijuana and 850 grams of opium) and 1,990 Metadon M-40 psychotropic pills within the service area of the "Horadiz" border detachment. Additionally, 71 kilograms and 870 grams of marijuana were discovered and removed from illegal circulation within the service area of the "Lankaran" border detachment.
Operational and investigative measures regarding these incidents are currently ongoing.
Azerbaijan frequently conducts border security operations to combat the illegal trafficking of narcotics, which often transit through the region. The State Border Service maintains strict surveillance along the border with Iran to protect national security and public health from the influx of illicit substances.
