Milli Majlis to hold first spring session meeting on Feb 2

Milli Məclisin yaz sessiyasının ilk plenar iclası fevralın 2-də keçiriləcək

The first plenary meeting of the spring session of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) has been scheduled for February 2. A total of 16 items are expected to be brought to the floor for discussion during the session.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the agenda includes constitutional laws, international agreements, and several significant draft laws. The items to be discussed at the plenary session include:

  • Constitutional Law "On approval of amendments to the Constitution of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic" – second vote
  • Amendments to the Constitutional Law "On normative legal acts" – second vote
  • Legislative work plan of the Milli Majlis for the 2026 spring session
  • Establishment of the Counting Commission of the Milli Majlis
  • Formation of the Disciplinary Commission of the Milli Majlis
  • Election of members to the Broadcasting Council of the Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company
  • Approval of the agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters
  • Ratification of the International Labour Organization Convention No. 187 on Occupational Safety and Health
  • Amendments to the law on suspension of inspections in the field of entrepreneurship
  • Draft law on amendments to the Labor Code
  • Amendments to the Tax Code, the Law "On Banks," and the Law "On Customs Tariff" – first reading
  • Amendments to the laws "On protection of public health" and "On oncological assistance" – first reading
  • Amendments to the Customs Code, the Code of Administrative Offenses, and the Law "On precious metals and precious stones" – first reading
  • Amendments to the laws "On the budget system," "On accounting," and "On public procurement" – first reading
  • Amendments to the Law "On Patents" – second reading
  • Amendments to the law regarding the list of items removed from civil circulation – second reading

A significant portion of the issues to be discussed at the plenary session aims to improve the legal framework of Azerbaijan and continue reforms in the economic and social spheres. The Milli Majlis serves as the unicameral branch of government in Azerbaijan, responsible for exercising legislative power in the country. The spring session traditionally focuses on aligning national legislation with international standards and addressing the evolving socio-economic needs of the Republic.
