PAM leads Morocco’s legislative elections with 97 seats

Morocco’s Authenticity and Modernity Party, known as PAM, emerged as the leading force in the country’s legislative elections after securing 97 seats, according to results announced by the Interior Ministry.

The National Rally of Independents, or RNI, finished second with 66 seats, while the Istiqlal Party won 65 seats.

Election results

The Justice and Development Party, or PJD, placed fourth with 54 seats. The results determine the composition of Morocco’s 395-member House of Representatives.

Under Morocco’s constitutional system, the king appoints the head of government from the party that wins the largest number of seats.

Voter turnout

The Interior Ministry said voter turnout stood at 38% nationwide.
