New judges are set to be appointed to courts in Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, and several other cities across Azerbaijan. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, this issue has been included in the agenda of the plenary session of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) scheduled for May 26.
The proposed judicial reforms involve the reassignment of several judges to the Baku Court of Appeal. The candidates include Ayten Aliyeva, Telman Huseynov, and Elnur Nuriyev from the Baku Grave Crimes Court; Farid Ismayilzade from the Sheki Administrative Court; Elshan Abdullayev from the Shirvan Commercial Court; Elmaddin Huseynov from the Nasimi District Court of Baku; and Rena Gafarova from the Sabail District Court of Baku. Additionally, Vahid Sadigov is expected to be relieved of his duties at the Baku Court of Appeal due to a change in his position.
Further changes include the reassignment of Nural Aliyev from the Ganja Court of Appeal and the appointment of Bilal Mammadov, currently a judge at the Baku Military Court, to the Sumgait Court of Appeal. In the Sheki region, Etibar Mustafayev and Anar Asgarov are slated for positions at the Sheki Court of Appeal, while Fakhri Hajizade and Nijat Aghabayov are nominated for the Shirvan Court of Appeal.
These appointments are part of Azerbaijan's ongoing judicial-legal reforms aimed at increasing the efficiency of the court system and ensuring the transparency of legal proceedings. The Judicial-Legal Council of Azerbaijan regularly reviews vacant positions and candidate qualifications to maintain the high standards of the country's judiciary. Such rotations are standard practice in the Republic of Azerbaijan to ensure the effective administration of justice across both the capital and regional administrative centers.
