German politician Johann Wadephul has confirmed that he has proposed to his NATO counterparts a significant increase in military support for Kyiv.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing international media reports, the proposal aims to intensify pressure on Russia amidst the ongoing conflict.
"I have put forward a proposal within NATO on how we can increase military aid to Kyiv," Wadephul stated. The initiative reportedly includes a call for NATO allies to allocate at least 90 billion euros in additional aid to Ukraine, beyond the credit already agreed upon by the European Union.
This proposal comes at a critical juncture for European security policy. Germany, as one of the largest contributors to Ukraine's defense efforts, has been actively debating the scale and nature of its support. NATO, the transatlantic military alliance, has consistently sought to coordinate member states' contributions to ensure Ukraine maintains its defensive capabilities against Russian military operations. The alliance's support packages typically involve a mix of financial, humanitarian, and lethal military aid, aimed at bolstering Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
