A fuel tanker caught fire on the 60th kilometer of the Baku–Guba–Russian Federation state border toll road, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The ministry's "112" hotline received an emergency call regarding the incident.
The ministry's press service informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that forces from the Sumgait City Fire Protection Department of the State Fire Protection Service were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, emergency responders determined that a "MAN" brand fuel tanker had lost control and overturned on the roadside, resulting in a fire. Thanks to the rapid intervention of firefighters, the blaze, which originated in the fuel tank section, was extinguished quickly, preventing the fire from spreading to the vehicle's cabin or the surrounding area.
The fire consumed the fuel tank trailer and spilled fuel across an area of 500 square meters. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle's cabin was successfully protected from the flames. Relevant authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.
The Baku–Guba highway is a critical transport artery in Azerbaijan, connecting the capital to the northern regions and the Russian border. Such incidents on major highways often lead to temporary traffic management measures by the State Traffic Police to ensure public safety and facilitate emergency response operations.
