As a result of risk analysis conducted by the State Customs Committee, officers of the Nakhchivan Main Customs Department have successfully intercepted and seized a large quantity of methamphetamine, preventing its illegal circulation within the country.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Committee, the operation took place at the "Shahtakhti" customs post. A vehicle transporting a cargo of non-alcoholic beverages, which was in transit through the territory of Azerbaijan, was subjected to a thorough customs inspection using stationary X-ray equipment and a canine unit.
During the inspection, authorities discovered 53 kilograms and 817.183 grams of liquid methamphetamine concealed within 312 light blue plastic containers across two pallets. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
The State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan frequently employs advanced scanning technology and specialized canine units to secure the country's borders against smuggling operations. These measures are part of a broader national strategy to combat transnational organized crime and ensure the security of transit corridors passing through the Republic of Azerbaijan.
