Restoration works have commenced at the 2.2 km mark of the Lokbatan-Guzdek road in Baku, according to the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (AAYDA).
The agency informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that a temporary alternative road is currently being constructed to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow in the area. This measure is necessary to facilitate the subsequent demolition of a water drainage structure that was damaged by floodwaters.
In parallel, the agency has initiated the design phase for a new bridge at the site. These construction and restoration activities are being carried out in accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, aimed at improving the country's transport infrastructure.
The Lokbatan-Guzdek road serves as a critical transport artery in the Absheron Peninsula, connecting key industrial and residential zones. The State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads frequently undertakes such infrastructure upgrades to enhance road safety and connectivity across the capital and its surrounding districts, ensuring that critical transport links remain resilient against environmental factors like flooding.
