A charter aircraft crashed in western Alaska, resulting in the deaths of all eight people on board, including two pilots and six passengers. The incident occurred near a long-range radar station, according to reports citing officials.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the incident was confirmed following statements from Lieutenant General Robert Davis, commander of the Alaskan Region of the U.S. Air Force, as cited by the Associated Press.

The radar station involved is managed by the Pacific Air Forces Regional Support Center. It serves as a critical component of the long-range radar network responsible for monitoring aircraft operating within Alaskan airspace and along its borders.

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. According to preliminary reports, the aircraft departed from Anchorage and went down in the Cape Newenham area. Search and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the site to secure the area and recover the victims. While the immediate cause of the accident remains under investigation, the NTSB is expected to release further details as the recovery operation concludes and data from the flight path is analyzed.

Aviation incidents in Alaska are often complicated by the state's rugged terrain and unpredictable weather conditions, which frequently pose significant challenges for both pilots and search-and-rescue operations in the region.
