The Main Drug Enforcement Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has seized 42 kilograms of narcotics and 460 psychotropic pills during a series of targeted operations in Azerbaijan.
The press service of the MIA informed Operative Information Center-OMM that the operations are part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal drug trafficking. During the measures conducted in the capital and surrounding areas, two previously convicted individuals, 41-year-old Anar Asadov and 30-year-old Taleh Muradov, were detained. Officers discovered 42 kilograms and 690 grams of marijuana enriched with harmful additives, along with 460 methadone pills, in their possession. Investigations revealed that the detainees were acting as drug couriers within the cities of Baku and Sumgait.
Criminal cases have been initiated regarding the facts, and by court order, a preventive measure of arrest has been implemented against the detained individuals. The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to intensify its efforts to combat the illegal circulation of narcotics, which remains a priority for the Republic of Azerbaijan in ensuring public safety and health. Such operations are part of a broader national strategy to disrupt supply chains and prevent the distribution of synthetic and organic drugs across the country.
