The Armenian government intends to expand the mandate of its Ministry of Foreign Affairs by incorporating foreign trade functions into its portfolio, according to recent reports from local media.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Armenian government's latest session agenda includes draft proposals to rename and restructure several key ministries, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

Under the proposed changes, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be redesignated as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade. Similarly, the Ministry of High-Tech Industry is set to become the Ministry of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence, while the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs will be renamed the Ministry of Labor and Welfare.

These structural adjustments reflect an ongoing effort by the Pashinyan administration to streamline government operations and realign ministerial responsibilities with current economic and technological priorities. Such administrative reforms are often undertaken to improve bureaucratic efficiency and centralize decision-making processes regarding international economic engagement and digital development strategies.
