The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan has issued an official warning to the public regarding expected unstable weather conditions, including strong winds and heavy rainfall across various regions of the country.
According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the ministry, the National Hydrometeorology Service predicts intermittent strong winds, intense precipitation, and lightning in the coming days. There is also a significant risk of short-term flash floods in several mountainous rivers.
In light of these forecasts, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reminded citizens of essential safety protocols. During periods of strong wind, individuals are advised to stay away from light constructions, temporary buildings, billboards, and power lines. Standing under tall trees or electrical poles is strictly discouraged. Furthermore, given the difficulties wind poses for firefighting operations, strict adherence to fire safety rules is mandatory. Small vessel operators have also been notified that going to sea is prohibited under such weather conditions.
To ensure safety during heavy rainfall and potential flooding, the ministry recommends avoiding flood-prone areas and moving to higher ground immediately if a threat arises. Regarding lightning hazards, the public is advised to disconnect electrical appliances, refrain from using telephones, and stay away from antennas and metal conductors. If outdoors, individuals should seek low-lying areas rather than sheltering under tall trees; those in vehicles should stop movement and keep windows closed until the storm passes.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations in Azerbaijan serves as the primary executive body responsible for protecting the population from natural and man-made disasters. Such proactive warnings are part of the state's comprehensive strategy to ensure public safety and maintain the readiness of emergency response infrastructure during seasonal weather shifts in Azerbaijan.
