Police officers in Azerbaijan's Masallı district have seized 14 kilograms of various narcotic substances during a targeted anti-drug operation. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported that 24-year-old Pirali Agayev was detained in connection with the incident.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Masallı District Police Department conducted the operation to combat the illegal trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances. During the search, officers discovered a cache containing marijuana, heroin, and opium. The detainee confessed during interrogation that he intended to transport the drugs to Baku for sale. A criminal case has been initiated, and a court has ordered Agayev's arrest pending trial.
Azerbaijan continues to intensify its efforts against drug trafficking, particularly along the southern transit routes. The Ministry of Internal Affairs frequently conducts large-scale operations in regional districts to prevent the distribution of prohibited substances within the country. These measures are part of a broader national strategy to combat organized crime and protect public health from the impact of the illegal drug trade.
