A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck the Malatya province of Türkiye in the early hours of the morning.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) of Türkiye released information regarding the seismic event.
According to the official data, the underground tremors were recorded at 06:43 local time in the Puturge district. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 9.39 kilometers below the surface. To date, there have been no reports of casualties or significant damage to infrastructure.
While the earthquake caused brief concern among residents in neighboring districts, authorities state that the situation remains stable. Malatya is situated in a seismically active zone of Türkiye, a region frequently affected by tectonic movements due to its location on major fault lines, including the East Anatolian Fault. Türkiye’s disaster management agencies remain on high alert in such regions to ensure public safety and rapid response to seismic activity.
