Lavrov və Əraqçi regiondakı təhlükəsizlik böhranını müzakirə etdi

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi to discuss the ongoing security crisis in the region.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation released information regarding the call. During the discussion, Lavrov emphasized Russia's readiness to contribute to the resolution of the security crisis in the Persian Gulf region.

The Russian minister noted that Moscow highlights the importance of preventing a recurrence of armed conflict and supports resolving the dispute through diplomatic means rather than military force. The Russian side also recalled its initiative to develop a security concept involving all coastal states, with the support of extra-regional countries. Moscow stated that the goal is to find solutions that ensure long-term stability while taking into account the interests of Iran and its neighboring countries. According to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the sides also discussed the latest regional situation and the details of Iran–US talks held in Islamabad.

The Persian Gulf remains a critical geopolitical zone, accounting for a significant portion of the world's oil and gas exports. Security initiatives in this region often involve complex diplomatic balancing between regional powers and global stakeholders. Russia has historically promoted its "Collective Security Concept for the Persian Gulf," which advocates for a multilateral approach to regional stability, while recent diplomatic engagements in Islamabad suggest a renewed effort to address long-standing tensions between Tehran and Washington through international mediation.
