President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, visited the Alley of Honor and Martyrs' Alley in Baku on April 22 to pay his respects to the nation's history and leadership.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Latvian leader first arrived at the Alley of Honor to honor the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the architect and founder of the modern independent state of Azerbaijan. President Rinkēvičs laid a wreath at the grave of the late leader. He also paid tribute to the memory of the prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, and laid flowers at the graves of renowned state official Aziz Aliyev and talented physician Tamerlan Aliyev.

He laid a wreath at the "Eternal Flame" monument. While viewing the panorama of the capital, the President was briefed on the history of Martyrs' Alley, its significance in the national memory of the Azerbaijani people, and the ongoing urban development and landscaping projects in Baku.
