Azerbaijan issues weather warnings for strong winds

The National Hydrometeorological Service has issued yellow and orange weather warnings for July 27-28, anticipating strong winds across Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several other regions of Azerbaijan.

The service informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that a yellow alert is in effect for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as Gadabay, Goygol, Shamkir, Samux, Yevlakh, Barda, Tartar, Aghdam, Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Zangilan, Lachin, Kalbajar, Guba, Siyazan, Khizi, Altiagach, Imishli, Shirvan, Beylagan, Saatli, Sabirabad, Salyan, Bilasuvar, Jalilabad, Masalli, Lerik, Yardimli, Lankaran, and Astara. In these areas, north-westerly winds are expected to reach speeds of 13.9 to 20.7 meters per second.

Meanwhile, an orange alert has been declared for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, Mingachevir, Aghstafa, Gazakh, Tovuz, Ganja, Dashkasan, Goranboy, Gobustan, Neftchala, Hajigabul, Naftalan, Khachmaz, Gusar, and Shabran. In these locations, the north-westerly wind is forecast to intensify, reaching speeds between 20.8 and 28.4 meters per second.

These meteorological warnings are part of the standard safety protocols implemented by the National Hydrometeorological Service to alert the public and relevant authorities about potential hazards caused by severe weather conditions. Such alerts are critical for ensuring public safety, particularly regarding infrastructure, transportation, and agricultural activities, which can be significantly impacted by high-velocity wind events in the country.
