Strong winds are expected to hit Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several other regions across Azerbaijan from April 4 to 6.
The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the National Hydrometeorological Service, reports that yellow and orange warnings have been issued due to the forecasted windy weather conditions. In Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as other parts of the country, a north-west wind is expected with speeds ranging between 13.9 and 20.7 m/s, corresponding to a yellow warning level.
More severe conditions are anticipated in Gazakh, Agstafa, Dashkasan, Mingachevir, Naftalan, and Goranboy, where the north-west wind is projected to intensify to speeds of 20.8 to 28.4 m/s. This level of intensity has triggered an orange warning for these specific districts. Authorities advise residents to exercise caution near tall trees, temporary structures, and construction sites during the windstorm.
The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan regularly monitors atmospheric conditions to provide early warnings for extreme weather events. These color-coded alerts are part of a standardized system used in Azerbaijan to inform the public and relevant government agencies about potential risks to infrastructure, transport, and public safety caused by high wind speeds and shifting weather patterns.
