Labor legislation in Azerbaijan allows for reduced working hours for specific categories of employees.
According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, these adjustments are determined based on an employee's age, health status, working conditions, the nature of their labor functions, and other relevant factors.
The Ministry stated that for employees under the age of 16, a reduced work week of no more than 24 hours is established.
"For employees aged 16 to 18, individuals with I and II degree disabilities due to a 61-100 percent impairment of bodily functions, pregnant women, women with children under one and a half years old, as well as single parents raising children under the age of 3, the weekly working time cannot exceed 36 hours," the statement reads.
The same regulation applies to employees working in environments with hazardous physical, chemical, biological, or other heavy production factors, as well as those in positions involving high sensitivity, anxiety, or significant mental, physical, and nervous strain.
These provisions are part of the broader framework of the Labor Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which aims to balance productivity with the health and social well-being of the workforce, ensuring that vulnerable groups and those in demanding roles receive appropriate legal protections.
