The 61st meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) has commenced in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. A delegation led by Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev, who is currently on a working visit to China, participated in the session of the association's governing body.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, the information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM. During the event, Kamran Aliyev, who serves as the Vice President of the IAP, briefed participants on recent legal reforms implemented in Azerbaijan. He also presented candidates for new membership in the Executive Committee; following a vote, the new members were officially admitted to the committee.
The IAP is the first and only global organization for prosecutors, representing more than 350,000 prosecutors from over 170 countries across various regions. The Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan has maintained a long-standing and productive cooperation with the association since its inception, contributing significantly to its activities. Notably, Azerbaijan hosted the Executive Committee meetings in 2002, 2018, and 2024, as well as the Annual Conference and General Meeting in 2024.
The current session in Shanghai focused on several critical management issues, including the review of structural reports and significant amendments to the organization's founding documents. Discussions also covered the IAP's future strategy, network expansion, and the further development of international relations. Furthermore, organizational matters regarding the upcoming Annual Conference and General Meeting, scheduled for November 15-18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, were addressed. A preliminary decision was made to hold the 32nd Annual Conference in Ethiopia in 2027.
