GITEX AI Türkiye, the international technology exhibition network’s first event in Türkiye, opened in Istanbul on Wednesday.
According to the organizers, 350 companies, including 120 startups, are represented at the two-day event at the Istanbul Expo Center. Participants have come from more than 70 countries.
Artificial intelligence is the exhibition’s main focus. Cybersecurity, financial technologies, cloud computing, data centers, telecommunications, e-commerce and the gaming industry are also on the agenda.
Bilal Al-Rais, vice president for portfolio growth, technology and digital at GITEX AI, described Türkiye as an “important hub” for industrial artificial intelligence. He attributed this position to the country’s broad manufacturing base, growing startup ecosystem and network of technoparks.
Al-Rais told “AnewZ” that Türkiye’s large and diverse consumer market provides favorable conditions for testing products before they are deployed in other countries. He said solutions that work in Türkiye could also succeed in many major cities and countries.
He added that solutions developed in Türkiye, particularly for manufacturing, retail and e-commerce, have significant potential in international markets.
Türkiye is seeking to turn Istanbul into a regional technology and investment hub connecting Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and the wider Eurasian region. Officials have stressed the importance of attracting more foreign capital to support the international expansion of Turkish technology companies.
Meetings between investors and local startups are being held as part of the exhibition. The program includes discussions on artificial intelligence regulation, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity and the obstacles companies face when entering foreign markets.
Several leading technology companies are also attending the event. They are showcasing the computing infrastructure needed to develop and operate increasingly powerful artificial intelligence systems.
Cihan Cinte, product manager at “ASUS Türkiye,” said on the opening day that visitor numbers had exceeded expectations. He told “AnewZ” that demand for the exhibition was strong and that they were surprised by the large number of people interested in the solutions and products on display.
“GITEX” began more than 40 years ago in Dubai as a regional technology exhibition. It later developed into an international events network bringing together governments, investors, major companies and emerging technology businesses.
The Istanbul exhibition will continue through Thursday. Organizers hope the event will lead to new investment commitments, technology partnerships and international opportunities for Turkish startups.
