Israeli military aviation has carried out a series of strikes targeting 38 settlements across the southern and eastern regions of Lebanon.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that a Lebanese military field source provided this information to the RIA Novosti agency.

According to the source, 36 of the airstrikes were concentrated in the southern part of the country, while two targeted eastern districts. In addition to the aerial bombardment, 14 settlements were subjected to heavy artillery fire. In the border town of Khiyam, Israeli military forces reportedly mined and demolished several residential buildings.

According to reports from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the death toll from the ongoing hostilities since March 2 has reached 2,879, with 8,730 citizens wounded. Although a formal ceasefire is technically in place between Lebanon and Israel, mutual strikes continue on a daily basis. The Hezbollah movement continues to respond with attacks on Israeli military personnel in the border zone, while the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) regularly accuses the opposing side of violating the ceasefire agreement.

The escalation comes amid heightened regional tensions following months of cross-border skirmishes. International mediators have repeatedly called for a cessation of hostilities to prevent a wider regional conflict. Lebanon, already grappling with a severe economic crisis, faces significant humanitarian challenges as the displacement of civilians from border areas continues to grow.
