Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued an order to suspend the movement of all vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the information was released by the Reuters news agency.
According to the reports, ships in the vicinity of the strait are receiving warning messages from the IRGC via specialized radio frequencies. The messages explicitly state that no vessels are permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
Furthermore, Iran's Fars news agency, citing data from international maritime monitoring systems, confirmed that the movement of tankers around the Strait of Hormuz has come to a complete standstill. Currently, traffic in the strategic waterway remains paralyzed.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most vital maritime chokepoints, serving as the main artery for global oil supplies. Located between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes through this narrow passage daily. Any disruption in this region typically has immediate and significant impacts on global energy markets and international maritime security.
