President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, on the occasion of the country's national holiday – Independence Day.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Azerbaijani leader expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the President and the people of Ghana on behalf of himself and the people of Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of joint efforts to consistently expand cooperation and develop relations between Azerbaijan and Ghana. "On this festive day, I convey my best wishes to you and wish the friendly people of Ghana lasting peace and prosperity," the letter stated.

Ghana celebrates its Independence Day annually on March 6, marking the country's liberation from British colonial rule in 1957, becoming the first sub-Saharan African nation to achieve sovereignty. Azerbaijan and Ghana have maintained diplomatic relations since 1992, with both nations seeking to explore potential cooperation in various sectors, including energy, education, and trade. Azerbaijan's active engagement within international platforms, particularly the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), has further strengthened its ties with African nations, fostering a framework for mutual support and bilateral dialogue on the global stage.
