On May 10, President Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration of the first residential complex in the city of Zangilan, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing reconstruction of the liberated territories.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Vahid Hajiyev, the Special Representative of the President in Jabrayil, Qubadli, and Zangilan districts, briefed the head of state on the conditions created within the complex. The project, which saw its foundation stone laid by President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva in 2022, spans over 2 hectares and includes 12 buildings. The development features four three-story buildings with 60 apartments and eight two-story townhouse-style buildings with 44 apartments. Out of the 104 total units, 84 are designated for residents and 20 for service use, ranging from two to five-room configurations.
The residential area is designed with modern urban infrastructure, including children's playgrounds, sports facilities, bicycle lanes, and both underground and surface parking. According to the General Plan of Zangilan, the complex is strategically located in a multi-functional zone in the city center, close to schools, kindergartens, and public parks. This development is part of the "Great Return" program, a large-scale state initiative aimed at rebuilding infrastructure and ensuring the sustainable resettlement of Azerbaijani citizens in territories liberated from occupation. The program focuses on implementing "smart city" and "smart village" concepts to ensure high living standards and economic integration for the returning population.
