President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree on the call-up of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan for active military service and the discharge of servicemen to the reserve from July 1 to July 30, 2026.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that according to the decree, citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan born in 2008 who reach the age of 18 by the day of conscription (including that day), as well as those born between 1996 and 2007 who are under the age of 30 and have not completed active military service, do not have a right to deferment, or have not been exempted from service, shall be called up for active military service from July 1 to July 30, 2026.
Furthermore, servicemen who have completed their term of service as provided for in Article 38.1.1 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Military Duty and Military Service" shall be discharged to the reserve during the same period. The Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to take the necessary measures provided by law for the implementation of this decree.
Military service in Azerbaijan is a mandatory constitutional duty for male citizens, playing a vital role in maintaining the nation's defense capabilities and regional security. The conscription process is conducted four times a year—in January, April, July, and October—ensuring a continuous cycle of training and readiness for the Azerbaijan Armed Forces. This systematic approach allows the state to maintain a robust reserve force while modernizing its military infrastructure in line with international standards.
