Azerbaijan is actively developing its renewable energy sector, leveraging its significant natural potential to meet ambitious sustainability goals.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during his speech at the Azerbaijan-Czech business forum. The head of state announced that Azerbaijan aims to generate 8 gigawatts (GW) of power from solar, wind, and hydroelectric sources by 2032. President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that this target is not merely a strategic vision but is firmly backed by signed contracts, noting that extensive fieldwork is already being conducted to implement these projects.
The transition to green energy is a cornerstone of Azerbaijan's national development strategy, as the country seeks to diversify its energy portfolio beyond its traditional oil and gas sectors. With an estimated renewable energy potential of 27 GW on land and 157 GW in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, the Republic of Azerbaijan is positioning itself as a key supplier of clean energy to European markets. This initiative aligns with the country's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fostering international partnerships in the technology and infrastructure sectors.
