Unsettled weather conditions continue in several mountainous and foothill regions of Azerbaijan, characterized by intermittent lightning, heavy rainfall, and localized hail.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this information was provided in the latest update from the National Hydrometeorological Service as of 10:00 AM on June 11.
Precipitation levels were recorded as follows: 22 mm in Dashkasan, 14 mm in Shamkir, 13 mm in Gadabay, 11 mm in Tovuz and Kishchay (Sheki), 8 mm in Goranboy, 6 mm in Goygol, 5 mm in Gakh and Yevlakh, 4 mm in Oghuz, and 3 mm in Shahbuz, Mingachevir, Aghstafa, Zagatala, Zardab, Tartar, and Yardimli. Rainfall of up to 1 mm was recorded in Ordubad, Aghdam, Balakan, Sadarak, Sharur, Julfa, Barda, Ganja, Imishli, Gabala, Shahdag, Khinalig, Gusar, Griz, Goychay, Naftalan, Kalbajar, Lachin, Shusha, Khankendi, Khojaly, and Fuzuli.
In addition to rainfall, hail was reported in several areas: 18 mm diameter hail fell in the Kalbajar district around 8:10 PM on June 10, and in the Gadabay district between 9:23 PM and 9:30 PM. Hail also struck the villages of Duzyurd, Aytala, Gargar, Garikand, Yenikand, Maarif, Garadagh, and Ariqdam in the Gadabay district around 9:12 PM. Furthermore, 15 mm diameter hail was recorded in the Dashkasan district and its Qu-chu and Khoshbulag villages around 10:05 PM, followed by hail in the Gazakh district at 10:20 PM and in the Goygol district on the morning of June 11.
The National Hydrometeorological Service, which operates under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, regularly monitors weather patterns to provide early warnings for agriculture and public safety. These sudden meteorological changes, particularly in the mountainous regions of Garabagh and surrounding areas, are common during the spring and early summer seasons, often requiring residents and farmers to take precautionary measures against potential crop damage caused by hail.
