Intermittent lightning and rainfall have been reported across several regions of Azerbaijan, according to the latest weather data.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this information was released by the National Hydrometeorological Service as of 10:00 a.m. on June 27. Officials noted that precipitation in certain areas has taken on a torrential character.
According to the data, significant rainfall was recorded in various locations: 54 mm in Saribash (Gakh), which accounts for 30% of the monthly norm, and 26 mm in Kalbajar (also 30% of the monthly norm). Other areas experienced lighter rainfall, with 9 mm recorded in Sheki, Mingachevir, and Shahbuz; 7 mm in Zagatala, Altiagac, Gusar (Laza), and Shahdag; 5 mm in Griz and Aghdam; 4 mm in Barda and Beylagan; 3 mm in Yardimli and Imishli; 2 mm in Sadarak; and up to 1 mm in Lachin, Qubadli, Shusha, Khankendi, Khojaly, Fuzuli, Lankaran, Astara, Bilasuvar, Kurdamir, Sabirabad, Nakhchivan, Dashkesan, Gadabay, Ganja, Naftalan, Tovuz, Gabala, Ismayilli, Shamakhi, Gobustan, Shirvan, Tartar, Zardab, Jafarxan, and Lerik.
Since the early morning hours, rainfall has also been observed in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, with some areas experiencing localized heavy downpours.
The National Hydrometeorological Service, which operates under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, is responsible for monitoring climate patterns and providing early warnings for extreme weather events across the country. Such meteorological updates are critical for agricultural planning and public safety, particularly during periods of unstable weather conditions in the mountainous and lowland regions of Azerbaijan.
