Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna has extended his congratulations to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the Civil Contract Party following their victory in the recent parliamentary elections.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Estonian official shared his remarks on the social media platform X.

Minister Tsahkna stated that the election results reflect the Armenian people's strong support for democratic reforms, regional stability, and closer cooperation with European partners, including the European Union. "We congratulate Nikol Pashinyan and the Civil Contract Party on their victory in the parliamentary elections in Armenia," he noted.

The Estonian Foreign Minister further emphasized that Estonia and Armenia have significantly developed their bilateral relations in recent years, expressing hope that this positive momentum will continue. He highlighted that despite various pressures and intimidation, the clear public support in Armenia for strengthening ties with European partners remains noteworthy.

According to preliminary results from the parliamentary elections in Armenia, four political forces have secured representation. The Civil Contract Party is leading with 49.81 percent of the vote and is expected to secure a majority to form the government. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has already announced that his party will proceed with forming the new government based on these results.

The European Union has increasingly sought to deepen its engagement in the South Caucasus, viewing democratic consolidation and regional stability as key pillars for its partnership with countries in the region. Estonia, as a member state, has consistently advocated for closer EU-Armenia ties, emphasizing the importance of democratic processes in shaping the country's foreign policy trajectory.
