The Main State Traffic Police Department (MSTPD) has issued an urgent advisory to road users in Azerbaijan regarding adverse weather conditions characterized by strong winds.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the department released a statement following forecasts from the National Hydrometeorological Service. Authorities have issued yellow and orange weather warnings for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several other regions due to expected high-velocity winds.
The MSTPD urges drivers and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution to prevent traffic incidents. Owners of trailers, tent-covered vehicles, and long-haul trucks are advised to be particularly vigilant, as strong winds can significantly impact vehicle stability and cargo safety. Drivers are strongly encouraged to park vehicles in secure, enclosed areas, away from structures or objects prone to falling or sliding during high winds.
This advisory is part of a broader safety protocol in Azerbaijan, where traffic authorities frequently issue warnings during extreme weather events to mitigate risks on the country's road network. Pedestrians are also advised to remain vigilant and avoid behaviors that could endanger their safety or that of other road users during these volatile weather conditions.
