As of 15:00 on February 27, Azerbaijan is experiencing unstable weather conditions characterized by precipitation and strong winds across various regions.
The National Hydrometeorological Service informed Operative Information Center-OMM that an easterly wind is prevailing in several areas. The maximum wind speed has reached 28 m/s in Ganja, 24 m/s in Naftalan and Shamkir, 23 m/s in Goranboy, and up to 21 m/s in Julfa, as well as in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula.
Significant wind speeds were also recorded in Salyan, Sabirabad, Tovuz, and Neftchala at 20 m/s; Sheki and Ismayilli at 18 m/s; Agstafa, Gobustan, and Hajigabul at 16 m/s; and Shamakhi at 15 m/s. Rainfall is currently reported in Nakhchivan, Sharur, Shahbuz, Julfa, Sadarak, Naftalan, Shabran, Qusar, Khachmaz, Goranboy, Tartar, Barda, Beylagan, Lankaran, Astara, and Aghdam. Meanwhile, snow is falling in high-altitude areas including Khinalig, Ordubad, and Shahdag.
Furthermore, fog has been observed in Dashkasan, Saribash (Gakh), Gobustan, Guba, Qusar, Khizi, Griz, and Lerik, where visibility has been restricted to 500 meters. Such weather patterns are typical for the transitional period in Azerbaijan, where the diverse topography—ranging from the Greater Caucasus mountains to the Kur-Araz lowlands—often results in localized microclimates and rapid atmospheric changes. The National Hydrometeorological Service continues to monitor the situation to ensure public safety and provide timely updates for maritime and aviation sectors in the Caspian region.
