Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss regional stability and bilateral ties.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Turkish Presidency's press service released an official statement regarding the call. During the discussion, the two leaders exchanged views on the current state of Turkey-Iran relations and the escalating military tensions across the region. President Erdogan emphasized the vital importance of maintaining regional stability and highlighted the necessity of diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.

During the conversation, Erdogan expressed Turkey's readiness to assume a mediating role to resolve the ongoing tensions between Iran and US President Donald Trump's administration. He noted that addressing these issues through dialogue and diplomatic channels is of critical importance for regional security. The Turkish leader also mentioned his plans to receive Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who is currently on an official visit to Ankara.

Turkey has historically positioned itself as a key diplomatic bridge between Western powers and regional actors in the Middle East. Given its unique status as a NATO member that maintains pragmatic relations with Tehran, Ankara frequently advocates for multilateral diplomacy to prevent large-scale conflicts. This latest mediation offer comes at a time of heightened geopolitical sensitivity, where the security of energy corridors and regional trade routes remains a priority for both Azerbaijan and its neighbors.
