Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has received Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), who is currently on a visit to Azerbaijan.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the meeting focused on the long-standing and trust-based cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ICRC. The parties emphasized the importance of maintaining regular contacts and discussed the humanitarian activities carried out by the organization within the region. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan's consistent commitment to humanitarian principles, noting the country's adherence to international humanitarian law and its efforts to mitigate the impact of armed conflicts on civilian populations.
The discussions also addressed the post-conflict situation in the region and the ongoing steps toward establishing lasting peace and stability. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed the ICRC president on the progress of the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as measures aimed at strengthening mutual trust. The ICRC has maintained a continuous presence in Azerbaijan since 1992, playing a vital role in addressing humanitarian challenges arising from the former Garabagh conflict, including the critical task of clarifying the fate of missing persons and providing support to conflict-affected communities.
